He's Gay, He Fights, He Wins
It's 1974 in Washington, D.C. A young man with a gymnast body, an angel face and a pit bull temperament uses his family's wealth and political pull to become a Presidential bodyguard with the U.S. Secret Service. He's Skip Walker, he's gay, and he pretends to worry about being discovered.
Soon agents of America's greatest international rivals entice him with world-class gay sexual bait. After entrapping him they threaten to out him if he doesn't spy on the White House.
Except he is also a double agent, working covertly for the CIA.
He finds a magnificent lover, Mack, also a CIA agent, and together they feed the enemy carefully crafted misinformation when a conflict needs to be tipped to a big American win. It's an intensely dangerous and unpredictable game, and inevitably Skip's loyalty is brutally tested when members of his family are captured and threatened.
Reviews
“. . . a grand and sensuous gay saga. It's the story of a man who is determined to maneuver through a prejudiced society while still adhering to his own demanding values. He aims to build a career and a personal family life that he not only feels he deserves but that he is going to get- no matter what.”
Nicholas Fenwood, Seattle Reviews

“The C.I.A. operation, where gays in government are used as magnets to attract blackmailing spies, is a stunning eye-opener... There is no limit to American ingenuity and craziness?!!”
Felix Abt, Amsterdam Reader

“There’s more to bite into here than beautiful bodies (although there’s plenty of that). The lead character, Skip, is trying to be conservative and gay at the same time, and this during an era of prejudice. But for starters he has it all...so the struggle is fascinating."
Nat Gold, N.Y., N.Y.

“With a very appropriate dedication to the gay and lesbian members of the U.S. Armed Forces, the author brings us back to a time when it wasn’t just ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell.’ It was ‘Tell and go to hell.’”
Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Air Force, Retired

The Bodyguard edition by Mike Breen Literature Fiction eBooks
Though I am not an avid reader, I do enjoy reading. When I do read I want excellent work - something that is well written, has a complex plot, probes into social issues, captures and holds my attention, makes it difficult for me to put it down.I bought this book because:
1. I was looking for gay literature by author's I was not acquainted with and had not heard of Mike Breen before.
2. Though it had only 1 rating that was a 5 star rating and the summary spoke well of the book.
3. I worked in Washington, DC during the Watergate Scandal (3 blocks from Watergate) and felt I would understand and relate to the events and era of the book and that it would bring back memories of my days in Washington, DC. It did exactly that.
I am only a quarter of the way through Bodyguard but am finding Mike Breen to be a masterful writer. Bodyguard meets all of my hopes and expectations so far as how well it is written, it's complexity, issues dealt with, it captures my attention and I don't want to put it down - I just want to read to the end. His development of characters is phenomenal - you just have a sense of what each character is both psychologically and physically. To me this book and Mike Breen's writing ability are brilliant. I am enjoying Bodyguard so much I bought two more of his novels to read once I finish Bodyguard.

The Bodyguard edition by Mike Breen Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Longer than the run on the mill M/M novel, this is a real page turner, and the length is a real plus, allowing for exceptional character development and plot details. A bit out of the ordinary, the story line grabs from the outset and never lets you go. I was particularly impressed by the author's deft use of erotic scenarios to enhance and supplement the main story without becoming overbearing or descending into more mainstream quasi-porn.
